The AYSA 10U Travel Fast Pitch Program offers
opportunities for dedicated, committed and skilled
players. Tryout times for Travel Teams vary, but are
often held in November and August . Each travel team
manages their own playing schedule. Generally
speaking, Travel teams practice 2 times a week and
play in 1 to 3 weekend tournaments a month. The
commitment and time demands are at higher level than
non-travel ball and should be considered by the
parents and child beforehand.
Practices normally last between 2-3 hours. During the
week we will have 1-2 games in addition to regular
practices. On tournament weekends we can expect to
play at least 3 games on a Saturday and as many as
7-8. We try to keep Friday and Sunday Open when
possible.
Practice attendance and game attendance is taken
seriously. Players are expected, at this level of
play, to make softball their only or primary sport.
Our goal is to develop the most competitive team of
10U players in Georgia. We can only accomplish this
when everyone does their individual part toward both
their personal development and toward the team. We
are having an outstanding 2008 season and are well on
our way to being a team that can stand on its own
against any team we face.
(The tournament schedule and location is decided on by the team manager). Financial commitments generally range from $500 - $1000 per season. Again, generally speaking, most travel teams require each player to participate in individual, weekly lessons (hitting, pitching, catching, conditioning, etc.).
